One of the perks of being a reporter is traveling to unforeseen places on assignment. For the November issue of FLmx, I was invited to West Palm Beach for a one-on-one interview with Willie Manning from Willie Manning Industries (WMI.) After speaking with Willie on the phone – I tried asking him to describe WMI’s new 3,500 sq. ft. race shop – he said, “Why don’t you just drive down here and see the place for yourself. That way, you can get a real feel for the way things are done around here,” and I knew he had a point. After a quick phone call to the publisher, I scheduled a visit for the next day! I was stoked! Phone interviews are a dime a dozen, and since every journalist wants maximum expossure, a formal meeting was best.
There I was in front of the shop with my camera, pen and voice recorder and I was nervous!
Of course, I had prepared a list of questions, plenty of questions, but I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my work, so I didn’t want to miss a thing. I slowly made my way to the front door and opened it to the showroom.
You can read about the rest of my experience in the next issue of the FLmx magazine. Don’t you just love a cliff hanger ending?!
